Q: Hi! Tell us a little about yourself. How long have you been volunteering with For 3 Sisters?
A: I have been volunteering with For 3 Sisters for about 5 years now. I started right after the pandemic.
Q: Why did you decide to volunteer with For 3 Sisters?
A: I volunteer because I see the change that this organization makes for people. I grew up in Olney, and I learned early on that this town is different than most. We take care of one another like family. This initiative is how For 3 Sisters is run, and being a part of a community like this one is so heartwarming.
Q: Is there someone special whose memory inspires you to volunteer with For 3 Sisters?
A: My Aunt passed away from leukemia lymphoma cancer when I was in middle school. To the best of her ability, my Aunt never gave up on taking care of everyone in our family or neighbors, so I want to return that favor to others.
Q: Share a favorite memory associated with your volunteer work with For 3 Sisters.
A: I have always loved popping in to help with the bake sales. I always bake. It is something that my Aunt taught me how to do. Then, being able to see people happy to have a little treat and share their story reminds me how the small things can make the biggest difference.

Q: How has your volunteer work with For 3 Sisters impacted your own life?
A: I’ve grown personally throughout the time I have been volunteering, developing new skills, building relationships, and finding a sense of purpose in contributing to a cause greater than myself.
Q: What’s your favorite thing about volunteering with For 3 Sisters?
A: Getting to be a part of some really cool events and seeing the smiles on people’s faces when the pink fireman shows up.

Q: What would you say to someone who’s thinking of volunteering?
A: Come stop by an event and talk to us. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people while also helping the community.
Q: Anything else you’d like to tell the world?
A: For 3 Sisters, it is not your typical non-profit; it is so much more. Shannon and Marshall will never stop looking out for and caring for others. They have formed an organization that always thinks outside of the box and goes above and beyond for others. No matter how you are related to this organization, you are considered family as soon as you connect with them.
