For 3 Sisters is a national grassroots organization dedicated to raising awareness and improving the lives of people affected by breast cancer. It was founded by retired firefighter, Marshall Moneymaker and his wife Shannon after he lost three older sisters to breast cancer. For 3 Sisters is committed to supporting breast cancer fighters and survivors in any way possible, so no man or woman fights breast cancer alone.
Marshall’s story and the work of For 3 Sisters has been featured on Good Morning America, the Washington DC affiliates of FOX, ABC, CBS, NBC, The Washington Post, and CNN.

This Thanksgiving, For 3 Sisters provided 34 breast cancer patients and 12 oncology healthcare heroes full Thanksgiving dinners! We chose Mission BBQ in Rockville, MD to provide whole turkeys (or sliced turkey breast), 4 sides, and cornbread to families, and the Giant Food in Olney, MD graciously donated dessert! They also very generously donated an additional 12 fully cooked turkeys for oncology healthcare heroes at Medstar Montgomery Medical Center.
Special thanks to each person who sponsored a family this Thanksgiving, and to our amazing volunteers who remained COVID compliant while ensuring families and healthcare heroes could enjoy a delicious holiday meal. Earlier in September, a lovely couple was referred to us by our friends at
The Tutu Project of The Carey Foundation . Mr. H, a retired firefighter, lives on a small farmette in West Virginia, where he is a loving husband and caregiver to his wife, who has Metastatic Breast Cancer, and is home on hospice. During our conversation with Mr. H, we learned that they owned 10 alpacas. With much of his time spent caring for his wife, he didn't have the time needed to devote and care for the animals, and come fall, the feed would be cost prohibitive. He'd already spent months trying to re-home them without success. "I don't know if you're the people to ask," he said, "but you seem really nice. Do you think you could help me re-home my alpacas?" [When For 3 Sisters says we want to alleviate a family's burden, we're not here to define what that burden means for the family. If you need help with rent, we'll get it done. Need help with groceries? No problem, we'll get it done. Need help with.......alpacas? Well ok, yup, we're gonna get that done too! Because that's what we do! ] And so here we are. Alpaca Day! YES - if you can believe it, we were able to locate a new home for these beautiful animals. For 3 Sisters did all the research, made all the phone calls, handled all the logistics, and spent the evening before and the morning of at the farm to make sure there weren't any added burdens on the family. Take a moment and see our morning at the farm. Turn the volume up - the music is nice. Very special thanks to our new friends at Red Dog Farm Animal Rescue Network in North Carolina, for literally going the extra mile (we were a little out of their service area) to bring these animals to their new home. "It's bittersweet. I'm sad to see them go, but I already feel the stress lifted from my shoulders. Thank you." - Mr. H |
