A Brand New Heart Beat...

On Wednesday, in honor of American Heart Month, For 3 Sisters and Rescue One, Inc. became partners in the effort to ensure AED access to community members at events where “Vicky”, Maryland’s iconic pink fire engine, is present. 
 
“Rescue One is pleased to support For 3 Sisters in their mission to save lives. “Vicky” the pink fire engine is present at many public events, and having an AED available on the engine will assist in providing lifesaving treatment to someone having a cardiac emergency,” said Jeremy Gruber, VP of Strategic Sales.
 
According to the American Heart Association, survival from cardiac arrest doubled when bystanders used a publicly available Automated External Defibrillator (AED) rather than waiting until emergency responders arrived. An AED is a portable device that is used to diagnose and treat life-threatening cardiac arrythmias. When an AED is used in conjunction with immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and calling 9-1-1, victims have a greater chance of survival and better outcomes.

“Though “Vicky” is no longer serving as a fire suppression unit or emergency medical unit, when people need help and see a fire truck, that’s where they’ll go. Seconds matter in a life-threatening cardiac emergency, and now, with an AED on board, those seconds aren’t wasted,” said Marshall Moneymaker, Founder of For 3 Sisters. 
 
"Vicky" the pink fire engine, named in memory of the first of three sisters to lose her battle with breast cancer, raises awareness in the community via exhibiting events, appearances, and parades, delivers health information and resource information to under-resourced and under-insured communities (often communities of color), inspires and promotes hope and strength to breast cancer fighters, survivors, and thrivers, and provides celebratory rides home for patients completing treatment for breast cancer.
